Founded in 2016 by our visionary chairman, Mr. K. A. Sunil Jayatissa, IES - International Examination Services has been dedicated to elevating the standard of English language proficiency across the island. With a strong passion for enhancing the quality of education, Mr. Jayatissa set out with the goal of making international standard exams accessible to all Sri Lankans.

As an officially authorised Cambridge Examination Centre, we proudly serve as a trusted partner in providing Cambridge examinations. Our reach extends to over 23 locations across Sri Lanka, making it easier than ever for students and institutions to access world-class testing services.

Chairman's Profile

Mr Sunil Jayatissa – Chairman / CEO / CEM

Mr. K.A. Sunil Jayatissa is a seasoned leader with extensive experience in education, organisational development and community focused initiatives. Over the span of more than two decades, he has contributed significantly to impactful projects across both the public and private sectors. His career reflects strong capabilities in management, strategic planning and institutional development, with a dedicated focus on creating sustainable and inclusive opportunities for diverse communities.

A committed advocate for learning, Mr. Jayatissa has been deeply engaged in academic and professional training environments, supporting large numbers of students through programmes, delivered in collaboration with leading educational institutions. His dedication to broadening access to quality education also played a central role in establishing one of the country’s most recognised school networks, serving thousands of learners through a modern English-medium curriculum.

In 2016, Mr. Jayatissa founded the Institute of English Studies IES – International Examination Services, with the vision of enhancing communication skills among second-language English speakers. This initiative continues to empower learners, helping them build the confidence and fluency needed to excel in academic, professional and global settings.

Beyond the sphere of education, he has led the way and established several ventures focused on community development and expanded access to essential services, particularly within underserved regions. His approach blends global insight with a grounded, socially conscious perspective, ensuring that each endeavour remains meaningful and responsive to community needs.

Through his work, Mr. Jayatissa continues to exemplify purposeful leadership, uniting vision, compassion and practical action. Manager – Operation’s Profile

Mr Tariq Khan

Mr. Tariq Khan serves as the Manager of Operations at International Examination Services Sri Lanka. After graduating in law, he was keen to transition into the field of education, where he felt his true interests lay. He initially worked as a law lecturer; however, through teaching, he discovered that his skills and passion were more strongly aligned with the English language. This led him to begin lecturing in TKT and ESOL programmes, marking a decisive shift in his professional journey and the start of his long-standing career in education. He arrived in Sri Lanka over twenty years ago and has since built a distinguished career within the education sector.

He has been part of IES since 2017 and has played a vital role in driving the organisation’s growth and operational success. His long-standing collaboration with Cambridge University Press and Assessment, beginning in 2013, has further strengthened the quality and reliability of examinations conducted under IES.

He oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of all Cambridge examinations across more than twenty-three centres islandwide. With a strong commitment to excellence and precision, he ensures that every exam session is delivered smoothly, securely, and in full compliance with Cambridge University Press and Assessment standards.

He also leads staff training and development programmes, ensuring that invigilators and administrative teams are consistently updated on the latest Cambridge protocols and international quality assurance requirements. His leadership has contributed to continuous process improvements and enhanced operational efficiency across all centres.

He is recognised for his dedication to creating a seamless and fair testing experience for every candidate. His professionalism and unwavering support have earned him deep respect within the organisation, and he continues to play an essential role in the day-to-day operations and long-term vision of IES Sri Lanka.
